684Amazing church in the middle of istiklal Street, resembles to Sagrada Familia in Barcelona but smaller. Gothic style, really unbelievable architecture... A must see.
Amazing church, great priest. If you're Catholic and in Turkey, I recommend attending mass there at least once.
I was walking through Taksim when I saw this church out of the corner of my eye. It is set back from the main street and hidden amongst all the shops in the area. Seemed a bit out of place but that added to its charm. The church is in its own little courtyard away from the crowds of Taksim to the point you hardly know where you are once you get off the street. The church itself is beautiful and artistic and peaceful. Worth the visit for some peace among the shopping crowds.
The Church of St. Anthony of Padua is the largest Catholic church in Istanbul and can be found just off bustling İstiklal Avenue. Small in size and relatively new given the city's complex religious history visitors should not expect the grandeur of other European churches, but the space is well maintained and appropriately adorned for its purposes.
very nice Roman Catholic church, however, shameful Christmas service focused on the hyype int he town - the security was rude, grabbing praying christians by the arms and manhandling them, screaming at them in /turkish. While understandable that many non-christians attending the service to see Mary and Joseph walk with Jesus intot he church, the Roman Catholic church needs to refocus on what is important here - Jesus, our Lord and Savior and people adoring Him. Not pure commercial stuff. Shameful how Christians were treated during the service - and non christians as well. Hope the priest of this parish rethinks his approach and offers something for christinas in years to come.
