Istanbul Modern was founded in 2004 as Turkey’s first museum of modern and contemporary art. ariaezel We spent hours in the place and had to leave without visiting all rooms and artifacs on display. The creativity of the young Turkish artists surprised us very positively.
merykft Decent modern art museum. Once of the places I like come by when I visit Istanbul. After you pay for the ticket, you get the change to leave your stuff in an open closet supervised by the staff. If you decide to take your bag with you and it's a backpack type, you'll have to constantly hang it by your front, not on the back. That was minus for me since it is not the most comfortable way to carry your stuff, but it's understandable.

jmobaho I first went to this place back in 2017 and I wanted to do a quick urbansketching with watercolors while I was inspired, they almost kicked me out! I asked why they said you can only use dry pens for drawing. Tbh I wasn’t even using much water to begin with, it was a semi-dry watercolor sketch… annnyywayss, I visited in July 2021 and this time they stopped me from taking a video with my phone, I said I’m press it’s fine but they said you need permission for filming, that’s quite unusual for an art gallery! People actually go there for taking pics and videos… While I was there, security was acting sketchy, they followed a young foreigner couple and they weren’t even doing anything. They literally treated everyone like a thief and it’s Covid times, there was like 4-5 people in each floor. Gosh!
336jamesn Very small collection - not worth 95 lira. You can see it all in 30 minutes. Woman at the ticket counter was rude.
